Information: At the end of March 1942, prisoners of war from Madoera, Central and East Java, and a group of a approximately 400 civilian men from Soerabaja were interned in sheds, offices, and outbuildings belonging to the Java-China-Japan Line, in the Tandjoeng Perak harbour. They were put to work by day doing, among other things, cleaning and repair work at the harbour and in Morokrembangan, a MLD and ML-KNIL Naval Air Force base. There was also a separate prisoner of war camp, where approximately 400 prisoners of war were held. These were mainly Moluccan and other native military personnel, and MLD and ML-KNIL ground personnel. On July 18th they were taken to the JCJL complex and from there two days later to Bougainville and Palau.
