In February of 1945, the 71 women and 46 children in the women's camp at Bandjermasin were transferred to Kandangan. They were gathered in a section of the KNIL-encampment, and housed in in wooden barracks on cement supports and in a stone building with three halls and an open gallery. Between the buildings stood a kitchen and a bivouac with a roof of atap. The camp was encircled by a four-metre-tall tarred fence. In September of 1945 the camp was abandoned, and the women and children returned to Bandjermasin.
