Fort De Kock (now Bukittinggi) is on the west coast of Sumatra, north of Padang. The Cloister of the Franciscan Sisters of Bennebroek was on Kampementslaan, in the southern part of the city.
Internees: men, women, and children Number of internees: 451 Number of deceased: None Information: On March 19th 1942, the “European” men, women and children from Fort De Kock were interned in two groups in the home of the assistant resident and in the cloister of the Franciscan Sisters of Bennebroek. At the beginning of April the women and children were taken to the boarding school for native girls. The men went to the KNIL encampment in Padangpandjang. Commendant: maj.
