In March 1942, prisoners of war from the area were taken to the barracks of the artillery encampment, east of the 4th and 9th Infantry Battalion encampment. The barracks were encircled with barbed wire. The prisoners of war were taken at the beginning of October to the 15th Battalion in Bandoeng. Thereafter the artillery encampment functioned in January 1943 as a transition camp for prisoners of war who were being moved from the infantry encampment to the 10th Battalion in Batavia. The barracks was also the Japanese camp office for all camps in Tjimahi, and the central warehouse for food and goods for the camps.
