Information: Several dozen “European” civilians from Padangsidempoean and the immediate surrounding area were interned in the tangsi, the family quarters of the native military personnel in the KNIL encampment in Padangsidempoean, shortly after the arrival of the Japanese troops. On May 2nd 1942, they were taken to Pematangsiantar. There the 10 men were housed in the prison, the 25 women and children in the Central Hospital of the Siantar Doctor Fund.
