Internees: women and children Number of internees: 1.120 Number of deceased: 8 Information: From September 1943, the youth prison in Tanahtinggi was used for the internment of women and children from all Java. They were housed in cells and halls surrounding courtyards, encircled with barbed wire and gedek. The prison was designed to hold 468 inmates, but the number of women and children in the prison was many times higher. At the end of March 1944 the internees were taken to the Government Reformatory, in Tangerang. The camp at the youth prison was abandoned. Commendant: mw.
