Information: In July 1944, a provisional camp was built in Roemahtiga to hold prisoners of war being brought back to Java after being put to work in the Moluccas. The prisoners of war were held in kampong houses, surrounded by barbed wire. Due to Allied bombardment of Ambon City and intensive actions against Japanese shipping traffic, the last groups could not embark until September and October 1944.In these transports many prisoners of war lost their lives. On group ran aground in Raha on the island of Moena (southeast Celebes).
