Information: On March 15th 1942, the Territorial Commandant and his staff reported to Pontianak. He was detained by the Japanese in a residence. The rest of his staff arrived at Ponianak on 11 April. From then on all of the prisoners of war were interned in buildings on the grounds of the official residence of the Apostolic Vicar of Pontianak and the attached People's Credit Bank: the residence, a vocational school, and a Chinese school. European and native prisoners of war were kept separated from each other. On 27 June, three prisoners of war who had fled two days before were executed on the bank of the river Kapoeas in front of the Vicar's official residence. On 7, 11, and 15 July, the remaining prisoners of war were moved in contingents to camp Batu Lintang near Kuching.
